Just the way you are.

Camryn woke up the way she wished she could spend the rest of her life waking up – with Rule planting kisses all over her face until she pushed him away. Her pushing him led to a play fight and make up sex. Next was a shower together and her fixing breakfast. Then Rule took her back home so she could get ready for work.

Rule looked just as surprised as she did to see Edward walking out of her home with a wide smile on his face.

“The hell?” She mumbled as she watched him get in his car and drive off.

“What was that?”

“Shit ion know, but I’m about to find out.”

“Don’t give your Mama a hard time. She grown.”

“Whatever.”

“How would you feel if they got back together after all of these years?”

Camryn sat back in her seat and released a loud breath. Her Mother never allowed Camryn to speak ill of Edward – other than talking about his lack of communication. It was evident that Brenda still had love for Edward, and after Edward confessed his love for Brenda, Camryn did wonder what it would be like to have her parents back together. But Victoria made that practically impossible. So Camryn tried not to dwell on something that she craved but knew would never happen.

“I mean… that’s something I always wanted as a kid. I think them being together would have kept me from being who and how am I.”

“How are you?”

She looked at him and half smiled.

“Come on, Rule.”

“No I’m serious. How are you?”

“Messed up. Untrusting. Paranoid. I’ve been coldhearted. Fearful.”

“But you’re none of that now. I’ve removed all of that don’t you think? Besides, I love you just the way you are. How does that song go?”

“Oh… no… you’re not… oh Lord… Rule, please…”

Camryn tried to open her door to avoid his horrible singing but he locked the doors and kept her from doing so.

“When I see your face there ain’t a thing that I would change, Camryn, you're amazing just the fucking way you are…” Rule belted out as loud as he possibly could.

Camryn’s smile was wide, and she was laughing so hard tears were forming in her eyes. But that didn’t stop Rule from singing his rendition of Bruno Mars’ Just the Way You Are.

“And when you smile the whole world stops and stares for a while, bet not no niggas try and snatch you, though, but, you're amazing just the fucking way you are…”

“Okay… okay… I get it. Just stop!” She begged through her laugh as she grabbed his face and saturated it with kisses.

“I mean that shit, though, girl. You’re beautiful and perfect just the way you are. With your mean and difficult ass.”

“You’ve made my day already and it’s just begun.”

“That’s what I’m here for.”

She ran her fingers over his freckles as he stared into her eyes.

“I missed you, Rule.”

“I missed you too. Come here.”

Camryn pushed her face closer to his and allowed him to take her lips into his.
